Your First Steps: Guide to Beginning Your Home-Buying Journey

Now that you have made the decision to buy a home, there are steps you need to take that will help your home searching process go more smoothly. Before you start home shopping, come up with a list of features you want in a home.

Start thinking of your dream home and what it looks like. How many bedrooms/bathrooms? How far of a commute are you willing to make for work? What school district do you want your children to go to? Will you want a home with a large yard? What sort of amenities does your dream home have - Fireplace? Attached garage?

When Winter Weather Strikes

With winter finally making its way into our lives this season, it is important to remember the dangers that come with the cold weather. You and your home face risks at the threat of a winter storm that can damage your property or leave you without power.

Keep your thermostat turned up during the day and night. Often times, people turn their thermostats down in the night to save on heating costs. During a winter storm, it’s okay to spring for those few extra degrees of warmth! Frozen pipes would be a much costlier problem.

Keep your garage door closed.
